This story follows Claire's inspiring journey as she transitions from feeling too old for change to embracing new challenges with open arms.
Part 1: What life is for
Today, Claire is enjoying a sunny weekend day, during a walk with her mother. They pause for a coffee, to enjoy the warmth of the day.
But as she looks around, Claire notices this feeling again. A feeling of longing. Longing for a change in her life.
Most days, she works in an office, and her thoughts drift to the blue lights from the monitor, and all the hours, which she spends at her desk.
Claire always dreamed of something different.... a life outdoors, running a campsite, connecting with people, feeling free. But she wonders, is it realistic? Sensible? After all,… she is 52 already. Claire thinks that this might be too old to start over.
Claire feels anxious about change.
The truth is, Claire still has many years ahead...
What is life for?
What do you want to do with your life?
Part 2: Achievements
After some serious consideration, Claire decided to explore her options. Unsure of her path, she reached out to a life coach. In their first session, Claire shared her concerns and fears. Just talking it through, in a safe space, helped her connect with the idea of change.
Together, Claire and her coach came up with an idea: an achievement journal. It would be a place to capture her daily wins, big and small.
They looked back on her past accomplishments, uncovering moments of resilience and growth that Claire hadn’t thought about in years.
Every day, Claire began reflecting on her small victories..... the challenges she faced and the obstacles she overcame. Slowly, her doubts started to fade.
With each entry, she began to see the strength she already had within.
Step by step, her clarity and confidence grew.
Which achievements haven't you thought about in a long time?
Part 3: Setting goals and small steps
After a few sessions with her coach and continuing the journaling, Claire felt her confidence grow. Her achievements and the
progress she made were constant reminders of her resilience.
Inspired by this, she started to look into her idea of running a campsite. A place where she could connect with people and nature.... But some doubts remained.
‘What if it is not the right job for me?’ she asked her coach.
Together, they figured out a way to test her idea. Claire already had a large space of her own.
Why not start small, by offering a bed-and-breakfast and see how she felt?
This practical step made her dream feel so much closer. Claire’s motivation grew immensely as she realized she didn’t need to have everything figured out; she just needed to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
Which small step could bring you closer to your dream today?
Part 4: Enjoy the journey
As Claire continued her journey with her coach, she felt increasingly empowered. The achievements she’d once written down in her journal had turned into real progress. She was no longer just dreaming about change—she was living it.
Together, Claire and her coach kept working on small, manageable steps, always moving forward. They focused not just on achieving her dream of running a campsite but on empowering Claire to take future steps on her own.
Claire realized that the path she was on might not be the final destination, but it was the right one for now. She felt content and proud of how far she’d come, knowing that the future held many more possibilities.
What if the journey is just as important as the destination?
What journey are you currently on?
